UK Vaping Predictions for 2023

The vaping industry has been through one hell of a rollercoaster since its conception. With experts claiming e-cigarettes to be at least 95% safer than smoking traditional cigarettes, but regulations and the media still flip-flopping between supporting and demonising vaping, it isn’t easy to predict what the future will hold. That hasn’t stopped professionals from trying… so, here are the most common UK Vaping Predictions for 2023.

1.   Stricter Legislations Will Be Introduced

Debates continue to rage concerning vaping legislation. Therefore, it is no surprise that the common consensus amongst experts is that stricter legislations will be introduced, further restricting vaping. There are already talks about banning e-liquid flavours and, recently, there has been a rise of disposable vapes that do not adhere to UK laws on nicotine strength and liquid capacity.

This could have both positive and negative effects. More vaping regulations could result in an increase of smokers, and some experts believe that stricter regulations could lead to more people turning to the black market for their vapes. This is a huge safety concern.

However, Jim Mcdonald of Vaping 360 has pointed out the “grey market” for illegal disposables that has recently been exposed in the UK. Disposables are also becoming even more popular with youths. Trading Standards, councils, and news outlets, have all carried out Test Purchase Operations. These operations concluded that, while legitimate vape stores were the least likely place for youths to get their hands on e-cigarettes, other businesses willing sold disposables to underage customers. Stricter legislation might make disposables harder for young people to purchase, or even less attractive to impressionable teens.

2.  The End of Disposable Vapes

In a shocking turn of events, in the midst of writing this article, it was revealed that Watermelon flavoured Elf Bar 600s contain at least 50% more than the legal nicotine limit. Since then, the topic of disposables has been discussed in parliament. Speakers debated the environmental effects of disposable vapes and the impact on the health of young people. After the discussion, it was decided that a bill, outlawing disposable vapes, would be drafted for consideration.

It is entirely possible that the bill will be passed and disposable vapes will be banned within the year. According to research conducted by material focus, 1.3 million vapes per week end up in landfills. It is no secret that a large amount is simply littered on the streets. Their bright colours are particularly appealing to youths and we have seen a huge rise in their popularity amongst underrage people.

Of course, this is simply speculation, and we cannot guarantee what will happen. It could go either way, but, for the reasons stated above, 2023 could see single use e-cigarettes officially banned.

3.  E-Liquids With Disposable Vape Flavours

If disposable vapes are really at risk, e-liquids are going to have to step up their game. Until recently, none of the regular e-liquids could match the intense flavour of disposables. However, some of the newer e-liquid ranges have been designed to replicate their taste. One of the most common UK vaping predictions for 2023 is that disposable vape inspired e-liquids will experience a rise in popularity, with possibly every major UK e-liquid brand creating their own versions. An example is SMKD’s DNA Vapes e-liquid range. This is a far more cost effective and environmentally friendly way to experience disposable vape flavours.

4.  More “Ice” E-Liquid Flavours

If you have been vaping for a while, you have probably come across “Ice” e-liquids. Not to be confused with menthol, which is designed to mimic the taste of menthol cigarettes, Ice flavours simply add a cool sensation to the vape juice, making the nicotine hit smoother.

Whilst Ice e-liquids are controversial, those who enjoy them claim that the cool sensation creates a more satisfying inhale and there has been an increasing number of vapers who prefer them.

For this reason, we are seeing more ice ranges and this will likely continue in 2023.

These were the most common UK vaping predictions for 2023 coming from a range of sources. Of course, we are not fortune tellers and this is mainly speculation, but we are excited to see what the future of the vaping industry looks like.
